Today’s success tip comes from George Faddoul.George became a master practitioner and trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Time Line Therapy and hypnosis. Since then he has trained thousands of people in Australia and overseas and has become a dynamic speaker on a range of topics.

What are your top tips for reaching greater levels of success?

* Decide what you want, and believe that you will get it. This first step of knowing your outcome will help you make a great first impression. Once you decide, you’ll feel it in your bones. It will change your character and you will walk taller.

* Think about what you want and take an action (however small) toward attaining it each and every day. Be a cause in your universe and make no more excuses. At least once a week, take 20 minutes to brainstorm actions, and come up with a minimum of 20 ways to improve them - 20/20 vision.

* Save ten per cent of everything that comes through your hands. Set it aside to take advantage of opportunities. Start now! Once you metamorphose this tip into a habit, this alone will make you a million dollars in no time.

* Read 30 minutes a day, ten minutes aloud. You have no idea what this little tip will do for your confidence and your voice. It will also continue your education and your preparation. Invest in yourself, study prosperity and strive to make your learning greater than your experience.

* Apply the 80/20 rule to everything you do. Make lists, prioritise and work on your most important priority first. Ask yourself, ‘What’s the most valuable use of my time right now?’ Work, learn and play like you’re being watched. This will give you drive and resourcefulness.

* Have persistence and perseverance. Take care of your ‘J’ curve - the miracle of compounding. Some things are linear and some things grow exponentially.

* Smile, celebrate, be thankful and be grateful. True prosperity involves a happy and enjoyable journey through life. Strive to make your gratitude larger than your success.

Six Top Tips for Achieving Success.
Friday, August 29th, 2008

This week’s Success Tips come from Samantha McDonald. Having had a successful career within the music industry, Samantha shifted her focus and became a personal and business coach. Intrigued by the power of the mind, she went on to become a master Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner and today she writes for several national magazines. In this short extract from her chapter in Secrets of Great Success Coaches Exposed, Samantha reveals six top tips for achieving success. I wonder which of one these points is most relevant to you right now?
What are your top tips for reaching greater levels of success?

Think big, and then think even bigger dream, dream, dream! And then make it brighter and even more compelling! The more perfect your dream is, the more your mind will want to have it, and the easier it will be to make it happen.

Always believe in yourself and in the power of positive thinking I cannot stress this enough. You absolutely need to believe in yourself and your ability to make things happen. If you haven’t been able to make things happen before now, it’s okay, because today is a new day! You can start fresh! But it all starts with what you believe.

Surround yourself with positive people get rid of toxic people or anyone who makes you feel less worthy than you are. They are like poison and don’t deserve a place in the awesome life you are creating. Trust me – the energy you spend trying to overcome their negativity can be much better spent elsewhere. Set up your own support network, filled with helpful people like a coach, good friends, close family, and other like-minded souls.

Push your boundaries and write your own rules how exciting is this? We’ve each been given a life, and the ability to make it whatever we like. There is simply no excuse for being a spectator in your own life. Stand up and be counted!

Do everything from a place of love and integrity I was once in a seminar and the speaker asked, ‘What would love do?’ I had no idea what he was talking about! What did he mean, what would love do? It’s only recently that I realised, in order for us to be most effective and also attract positive things our way, we need to give and do everything from a loving perspective.

Be successful in your own eyes first don’t be fooled into thinking that you need to impress other people. Your idea of success will no doubt be different to the next person’s, so it’s important that you have a very clear idea of what you want, and why you want it. Use your own measures of success and be proud of what you’ve achieved, rather than keeping tabs on where everyone else is at. That way, you’re doing things from a place of love rather than a place of fear.

Lauren Burns Olympic Challenge
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

This week’s Success Tip comes from Lauren Burns. Lauren was one of only three females to win an individual gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games (the other two were Cathy Freeman and Susie O’Neil). As one of the contributors in ‘Secrets of Inspiring Women Exposed’, in this short extract below Lauren shares a very important life lesson and proves once and for all, every setback is opportunity in disguise.

Have you ever experienced a low point in your sporting career? Can you tell us what happened?

It was during the 1999 World Championships in Canada. I was ready – training better than I ever had before. Having been to the last three championships, and with plans to retire after the Olympic Games in 2000, this was my last shot to reach my long-term goal of winning a world championship. It was my time and I was sure of it.

My first fight went well – I won 12-1. My next fight was against the current world champion, Shu Ju Chu from Chinese Taipei. The fight was close and ran at a draw for most of it with the tension and concentration thick between us. Each time one of us scored a point the other would score straight away and with a few seconds to go in the last round it was still a draw. Attempting to seal the decision and to show aggressive match management (a factor taken into consideration by the judges in case of a tie), I attacked. She countered and scored. The decision went to Chinese Taipei which then went on to win the tournament.

Even at world championship level, Taekwondo is not seeded so the draw can have a huge impact on results. Because I fought Chu in the second round I walked away from that competition with no medal, no ranking, and some shining bruises. Feeling at a complete low after the fight I mustered up the strength to sit in the stands, recording Chu’s fights throughout the day. Dejected and miserable I had no idea how handy those tapes would be during the course of the following year.

When I got back to Australia I watched those videos hundreds of times. I picked her apart, studied her every move, and simulated her in training. She became my focus. If I could beat her, I could beat anyone. As fate would have it, my first fight at the Olympics was Shu Ju Chu. It was a close fight but this time I came away the winner. Looking back I know that if I hadn’t lost to her at the World Championships I probably wouldn’t have had the tactical skills to beat her at the Olympics.

Every challenge we have leads us on a different path. We are human beings and we will all have events in our lives that continue to challenge us. Some challenges are bigger and more difficult than others but I believe that it is the way we deal with them that makes us who we are and gives us the ability to move forward and grow. Often it is the challenges that we face or the mistakes that we make that change us, give us clarity or allow us to look at our life from a different perspective.

Today’s success tip comes from Darren Lomman.

While at university, Darren invested over 4,000 hours in designing and building a hand-controlled motorcycle that could be ridden by a person with paraplegia. Dreamfit was then born and Darren continues to make people”s dreams come true through his passion.

What do you think are the essential qualities or attributes of a successful entrepreneur?

Dreamers and doers - entrepreneurs are ultimately dreamers and doers. They are always breaking new ground and developing new ideas. If you have a dream or a vision it becomes so much easier to put in the effort required to get where you want to be. I can picture in my head right now how I want Dreamfit to be in ten years’ time. It may not end up that way, but at least I have something to aim for. It keeps me focused on looking out for opportunities and people who may be able to help me achieve my vision.

Dedication and commitment - entrepreneurs are dedicated and committed to bringing their dreams to life, to turning them into reality.

Time and support - being able to leverage your time is an important skill to have or learn. My time was becoming a limiting factor in Dreamfit’s growth. I quickly realised that I had to get other people on board to help me achieve my vision. You can accomplish your dreams much faster with a team of ten people behind you rather than trying to do it all on your own.

Inspiration and belief - being able to inspire people is a vital quality for achieving success. But to inspire people you need to have total belief in what you are doing - be passionate about it, live it, breathe it, and have lots of energy and enthusiasm. If you can get other people half as excited as you are about your dream, you are halfway there.

Opportunity and responsibility - it is important to give people the opportunity to share in your vision and become a part of it. We give the engineering students who work on our projects almost total control over the direction of the project. They’ve got real responsibilities and I place my trust in them. Even though mistakes sometimes get made, you need to be open to that and accept that it is part of the learning curve.

Communication and networking - I consider having good communication and interpersonal skills as essential qualities of a successful entrepreneur. An integral part of running a successful business involves networking with other people and being able to communicate effectively with your clients, financiers and team members.
